The blue-spotted cornetfish is a slender, pipe-like predator that grows to around 1.6 m long. Its elongated snout and trailing filament at the tail base distinguish it from other cornetfish. Found in shallow coastal and reef waters, it hunts small fish and crustaceans by drifting close to the seabed before striking with a quick gulp. Divers will spot it hovering near rubble or sand, often alone or in small groups.
