The bar jack is a sleek, silvery predator found in tropical and subtropical Atlantic waters, often cruising reef edges and open water from 5 to 60 metres. It's readily identified by a dark stripe running the length of its body, and grows to about 60 centimetres. Bar jacks are fast, aggressive hunters that often school together, and divers may spot them herding smaller fish into tight balls before striking.
