The Banded Wrasse is a small labrid found in shallow coastal waters, recognisable by its distinctive transverse stripes that give the species its common name. Divers encounter them in kelp forests and rocky reefs, where they forage actively among seaweed and crevices for small invertebrates and crustaceans. They are quick and alert, darting between shelter as they feed.
