bald shrimp

The bald shrimp is a small crustacean found in shallow coastal waters across the Indo-Pacific region. Its most distinctive feature is its smooth, largely bare carapace, which gives the species its common name and sets it apart from hairier shrimp relatives. Little-known among recreational divers, this cryptic shrimp is typically encountered in seagrass beds and sandy areas where it hunts small invertebrates along the seafloor.
